Arti Keluskar, who was attached to the office of North Goa Police Superintendent at Porvorim, is reported to have hanged herself at about 11.30 pm. She had been on leave since the last four days when the incident took place.
According to Porvorim police, family members went to her room on hearing some unusual sound and found Keluskar hanging from the rafter of the roof.
They brought her down immediately, summoned a 108 ambulance and rushed her to Goa Medical College Hospital at Bambolim, but doctors declared her dead on arrival.
Police further informed that post-mortem was conducted on Thursday morning and the report confirmed that Keluskar had died due to hanging.
The police added that the body of the deceased was later handed over to the parents for final rites.
The police added that no suicide note was found in the room, and is unclear over the motive for the incident.
Police Sub Inspector Sarvesh Gaddi is investigating the case.
Deceased Arti was the eldest sister among three sisters, and after completing her training, had joined the police department barely one-and-half
years ago.
