Land conversion: New rule to give Collector powers for quick decisions

PANAJI
The State government has proposed to introduce a new rule which will give the District Collectors powers to decide applications for land-use conversion under the Land Revenue Code on their own if reports by multiple authorities are not received within 20 days of being sought.

The clause proposed to be introduced in the rules under the LR Code says applications for conversion of land will be decided by the Collector if authorities fail to issue NOCs and submit relevant reports and recommendations within 20 days.

The draft amendment to the Goa Land Revenue (Conversion of use of land and non-agricultural assessment) Rules, 1969 was published in the official gazette and is open to objections and suggestions from the public over the next 15 days.

Objections and suggestions to the proposal are to be forwarded to the Secretary (Revenue)  at the State Secretariat in Porvorim within the next 15 days.
