Goa Forward party president Vijai Sardesai on Friday alleged that there is a conspiracy of merging Goa, diluting the identity of the State for real estate business in Dodamarg, adding that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant himself has bought a huge chunk of land there.
“Chief Minister Sawant has bought two properties in Dodamarg, Maharastra. If I have not done a mistake in calculating, Sawant has taken 2966 acres, that is around 1.18 lakh square metres of land in Dodamarg and now the demand of merging Dodamarg is taking place. This is a huge conspiracy to have real estate dealings,” Sardesai said on Friday.
“One property is taken on the same day that Sawant was in Dodamarg for campaigning during the Maharashtra elections. This shows the real reason why he went to Dodamarg,” he added.
Sardesai said that this is a process of reverse merger of Goa. “They are trying to merge Sindhudurg in Goa and it is related to business interest. If Dodamarg merges with Goa, property prices will inflate,” he further said.
Meanwhile, the Goa Forward party also alleged that Sawant is behind a conspiracy -- opposing the proposed statue of Jack Sequeira and other leaders in Fatorda constituency.
He said that this is the first time that the BJP and Congress supported councilors of Margao Municipal Council are coming together to oppose the statue of Jack Sequeira. Besides this, councilors are also opposing naming some roads in the name of Manohar Parrikar, he alleged.
He said that they are citing few technical reasons like a supreme court judgement which states that a statue cannot be along the highway and that State government permission is mandatory for these installations. Stating that the Margao chairperson will resign over this issue, Vijai said that he has instructed Babita Prabhudesai to resign instead of compromising over the Dr Jack Sequeira statue issue.
