Large-scale celebrations were held in Belagavi and its neighbouring areas on the occasion of 67th Karnataka Rajyotsava on Tuesday.
District in-charge minister Govind Karjol hoisted the National flag and also the state flag in the district. Speaking at the event, Karjol said that the state government has taken steps for the upliftment of Kannada language and culture.
Later he marked the inauguration of celebrations by beating a traditional drum. MP Mangala Angadi, MLA Anil Benake, Deputy Commissioner Nitesh Patil, Police Commissioner Dr Borlingiah and other officilals also attended the event.
About two lakh people from different parts of the district and across Karnataka had gathered in Belagavi city to take part in the celebrations. A 10,000-feet long state flag was also unveiled during the celebrations.The security arrangements across the city was increased to maintain law and order.
