Latambarcem farmers submit memo to Arlekar

Farmers from Latambarcem-Bicholim have demanded that the government undertake remedial measures to protect their farms, even as they hailed the latter’s rndecision to declare wild boars as vermin.

In a memorandum submitted to Forest Minister Rajendra Arlekar, the farmers mentioned besides wild boars, monkeys and other wild animals are also responsible for destroying their plantations and government should take appropriate measure in the matter.
They also brought to the notice of the minister that water from Tillari canal has started entering into their fields and is destroying their crops and asked the government to take up remedial measures.
After listening to their grievances, Arlekar told the farmers that he would discuss the issue with the officials concerned and come out with a permanent solution.

Port town’s Swachh Bharat pledge goes for a toss
