AAP on Sunday condemned the attack on RTI activist Narayan Naik, which took place on Saturday.
The party said that law and order in Goa were crumbling as elections and blamed Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for the current situation. “Sawant seems too busy paying attention to his portfolio as home minister and is more interested in campaigning for elections. He is in a ceaseless PR campaign in which the BJP is just patting its back,” the party ridiculed.
“It’s shocking that goons dared to attack a citizen right outside a government office. Why has the law and order situation in Goa deteriorated to such an extent that people are being attacked in broad daylight?” the AAP questioned.
To make its point the party highlighted the incident police officer attached to the Harbour Police Station involved in raping and cheating a woman from Mormugao. Immediately the next day two hawaldars and a PSI from Calangute Police Station were suspended for extortion, it said. Even worse was that on June 29 three members of a family in Zuarinagar committed suicide allegedly due to the harassment by officers of Verna Police station, the AAP pointed out.
