The Railway Protection Force and the Railway Police have seized abandoned bags containing liquor bottles worth Rs 10,000 on 2 trains.
Narasimha Murthy, Assistant Sub Inspector, Castlerock with staff during escort duty of Vasco-Howrah Express found one unclaimed bag between Vasco and Madgaon containing 48 liquor bottles. The total value of liquor was Rs 1,300. These liquor bottles were seized and handed over to Excise Inspector at Vasco.
On Saturday, head constable R M Angadi of Castlerock Railway Poilice station received information from a reliable source that liquor bottles are loaded in a goods train from Kulem for illicit transport. Constable Parameshwer S B on arrival of the goods train at Castlerock checked and found 3 plastic bags with liquor bottles.
The total value of seized liquor is estimated at Rs 9,000. All the liquor bottles were handed over to Excise Inspector at Dandeli.
