CANACONA

Deputy Speaker and Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes visited the Canacona Community Health Centre (CHC), the lone government hospital in Canacona, to inspect for cleanliness and to verify if proper treatment was being provided to patients undergoing treatment at the health centre.

Fernandes paid a surprise visit to the CHC after a taluka-level function to enquire about the well-being of patients and to verify if medications were available, while also checking for a conducive environment at the CHC.

The deputy speaker first inspected the kitchen and toilets in the CHC to ensure that proper cleanliness was being maintained.

After being satisfied with the cleanliness of wash rooms and hygiene in the hospital kitchen, Fernandes then turned his attention to patients undergoing treatment in the CHC.

He visited almost every patient in the male and female wards, enquiring if they were being properly treated and if they are being given medications. He also wanted to know if they were supplied with hygiene food and if they were satisfied with the cleanliness of wards and hospital wash rooms/toilets.

CHC Medical Officer Dr Shaba Gaonkar accompanied Fernandes during his interaction with patients in the wards.

Satisfied with the positive feedback and response from the patients, Fernandes complimented CHC doctors and staff for their work.

“The patients gave me a good feedback and I observed that hygiene and cleanliness was being maintained in the hospital. I also verified the availability of proper medications. I thank the CHC staff for maintaining the standards at this lone government hospital which caters to the entire Canacona Taluka,” said Fernandes.
