SANGUEM
Upset over the condition of the road from Dando Junction to Sanguem town, residents from Sanguem led by Jervis Fernandes submitted a memorandum to the Sanguem deputy collector threatening to take action if the road is not repaired within a month.
In their memorandum, Fernandes and the other aggrieved residents stated that the work to replace the 300 mm A.C pipeline from Xelpem to Sanguem GLR by 400 mm dia pipeline under TSP in Sanguem constituency had been done hurriedly in May without taking care of the monsoon.
They claimed that this pipeline work was tendered in 2016 and was still not completed and added that the work "was a risk to public life and was stopped for reasons best known to them (PWD).
"The work should have started well before the monsoon season and should have been completed in stretches, without causing hardship to the public."
"The work has endangered commuters due to muddy water, potholes and dumping of material on the middle of the road from Sanguem Mamlatdar office building to Dando Junction,” stated the residents.
Demanding the urgent completion of the roadwork, the aggrieved residents have threatened to petition the high court if the work is not completed soon.
They have also warned that if the work is not completed within 30 days, they would seek "appropriate action" from the authorities concerned.
Fernandes claimed that a few mishaps have already been reported in the area in the last few days.
