Residents of Bandirwada-Chapora and Baddem marched to the PWD office and confronted officials after facing water shortage for the past one month.
Locals complained that they have been suffering from water shortage for the past one month and accused the PWD of failing to resolve the issue on a permanent basis.
They claimed that the issue is temporarily solved when residents confront officials and then the problem of erratic water supply comes back to trouble them.
A local, Parvati Nagvekar, alleged that water is being diverted to other places by water supply supervisors and operators.
“Tankers also do not come in time to supply water. If locals try to get water from private tankers, elected representatives hinder the process,” she claimed.
Nilesh Govekar complained that if locals question about the irregular water supply, the officers do not give appropriate answers.
“They do not bother that we do not get water. The people cannot store water for long periods,” said Govekar.
Dyneshwar Pednekar claimed that water shortage has been an issue for many years.
“Each time we go to the PWD to question officials on this issue, we are told that water supply would be restored in a few days,” he said.
PWD Assistant Engineer Randhir Astekar later assured the locals that water supply would be regularised in the coming days.
