New applications are for proposed Sainik school, cricket stadium, solar power plant & Comunidade’s own project

All seem to be eyeing land belonging to the Loliem-Polem Comunidade, as four more applications for land allotment will be discussed at an extraordinary general body meeting on July 6.
While it has to decide whether to give concurrence to conduct a joint inspection and survey for the lease of 1 lakh sq. mtrs of land for 8 Agro-Industrial Units, the Loliem-Polem Comunidade has also received applications for land to set up a Sainik school, a solar power plant, and a cricket stadium, besides its own revenue-generating project.
In a notice published in local dailies, the Comunidade of Loliem-Polem has convened an extraordinary general body meeting on July 6 at 10.30 am in the Sabhamandap of Shri Keshav Devalaya, Loliem, to discuss and decide on 5 different requests/applications for the allotment of Comunidade land on lease periods.
The Vadenagar Shikshan Seva Mandal, Vasco, has sought suitable land measuring 50,000 sq. mtrs to set up a Sainik school for the State.
The Polem Cricket Club has also requested land for the development of a cricket ground.
According to sources at Polem Cricket Club, the application to the Loliem-Polem Comunidade was made after authorities at the Goa Cricket Association (GCA) had made an announcement that the GCA is keen to construct a cricket stadium in Canacona, provided sufficient land is made available.
Besides, Concord Innovations Pvt Ltd, Mumbai, has applied for 15 lakh sq. mtrs of land to set up a 100 MW solar power plant project for the State.
There has also been a request from the Project Cell, Special Purpose Vehicle (GTDC Ltd), Parvatan Bhavan at Patto-Panaji, for land to construct wayside amenities for the benefit of tourists.
And finally, the Loliem-Polem Comunidade has proposed its own revenue-generating project of a building for the Comunidade of Loliem-Polem to set up an office, shops, and a multipurpose hall to generate revenue.
