LoP says LPG cylinder price hike is another blow to common man

MARGAO

Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao on Wednesday said the government's decision to effect another hike in LPG cylinders is another blow to the common man, saying even frying pakodas will be difficult for the educated unemployed youth.

Reacting sharply to the price hike on domestic and commercial LPG cylinders, the Leader of Opposition slammed the BJP government for continuously putting a financial burden on the people.

“This hike will result in a complete collapse of household budgets. This is a Financial Emergency imposed by the insensitive BJP government on the middle class and poor. The increase in commercial LPG cylinders will result in an escalation of food items in restaurants and food outlets. It appears that the government wants to keep people starving," stated Yuri.

He appealed to the people of Goa to realize the timing of announcing the hike in LPG cylinder prices. “The elections for Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland have just concluded and the results will be declared on March 2, 2023. People of these three states were lured with “Jumlas” before the elections. What they have been given is a price hike. BJP government is doing it repeatedly and consistently," charged Yuri.

Saying that the Lok Sabha elections are just a year away, he said the time has come for the people to realize the Pro-Capitalist and Anti-Poor Agenda of the BJP government. “It is not possible to defeat BJP unless the people will express their anger against the anti-people policies of the BJP government,” he stated.
