The Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao has slammed the State government over its failure to take ahead the Digital India initiative citing that 70 per cent of its departmental websites are vulnerable to cyber-attacks.
Referring to The Goan’s report on cyber security lapses, Alemao charged the government with neglecting critical security measures.
“BJP India’s Digital India failed. Goa government websites are non-functional and are not secured. As per reports, more than 70 per cent of the government websites are not safe,” he said.
Alemao said that he had brought to the notice of the government during the recently held Monsoon session of the State Assembly how websites are not safe and updated. “Despite promises, CM Pramod Sawant and IT Minister Rohan Khaunte failed to address it,” he said in his post on X.
Several attempts were made to reach out to IT director IAS Yashaswini, however, she remained unavailable for comments.
As reported, of the total 62 government websites, 45 departments have not renewed their Security Audit of their website, while another 17 website renewals are under process since over the last one year. Interestingly, these 62 department websites are not even embedded with SSL (Security Protocol that provides Privacy, Authentication and Integrity to Internet Communication).
Those that are under threat include websites of the department of electricity, Commercial Taxes, Women and Child Development, Economic Development Corporation, panchayat, Goa Police, Goa University, Nursing Education, etc.
