Loutolim Comunidade slams Fatorda MLA’s remarks

The Comunidade of Loutolim has condemned what it termed as appeasement politics being played by Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai in making blunt accusations against the Loutolim Comunidade without attempting to know the true facts.

A day after a group of farmers called on the Fatorda MLA seeking justice on decades old tenancy issue, Loutolim Comunidade President Blaise Brito claimed that most of the persons who met the MLA and accused the Comunidade for obstructing grant of their tenancy rights have not even filed any tenancy claims before the Mamlatdar.

Saying that such claims have to be filed before Mamlatdar and then proven, Brito said another vital fact is that immediately after the notification towards land acquisition for New Borim Bridge was published over a year back, all such tenants have simultaneously addressed applications to the Comunidade requesting issue of certificates claiming that their ancestors were cultivating the Comunidade paddy fields which are proposed to be acquired.

“Now that the acquisition is in advanced stages, these self-claimed tenants seem to be in a hurry to be declared tenants only to claim the compensations towards the land acquisition and want to be declared tenants merely on basis of their claims”, he said.
