Even as the casino vessel MV Lucky Seven continues to remain grounded at the Miramar beach, officials at the Captain of Ports remain confident that the vessel will be re-floated in another week.
Speaking to The Goan, officials who didn't wish to be quoted, said that the vessel has remained grounded because its propellers were stuck in the sand and further on account of the fact that there haven't been any spring tides to help re-float it.
"We would need a tide of at least two to 2.2 metres. Over the last week the tides have only been around 1.7 metres. We expect that sometime during the next week either Tuesday or Wednesday we will be able to re-float the vessel," the official said.
With each passing day, MV Lucky Seven has reached further on shore since the day it ran aground on July 15, three weeks ago.
While speaking in the Assembly, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had said that it would be relatively easier to re-float the casino vessel as it wasn't as big a boat as MV River Princess and as such could not compare the two. He insisted that there were directions to move the vessel back to the repair yard possibly within the jurisdiction of the Mormugao Port.
