Non-maintenance of street lights and power outages figured prominently at the gram sabha of the Macazana Village Panchayat on Sunday.

The issue over the installation of the mobile tower also came up for discussion, wherein it was decided to give NOC to install the tower in a private property. At the gram sabha chaired by Sarpanch Agnelo Da Costa on Sunday, gram sabha members once again raised the issue over the non-maintenance of street lights in the village. Members drew attention of the Chair to the fact that the contractor does not attend to the complaints over the non-functioning street lights in the village.

After giving the members a patient hearing, the Sarpanch made it clear that though the street lights does not come under the jurisdiction of the Panchayat body, the Panchayat would write to the electricity department to do the needful. He pointed out to the members that the Panchayat had in the recent past dashed off letters to the Power department, but a permanently solution is still

not in place.
