BJP National General Secretary Arun Singh has given a clean chit to the Pramod Sawant-led government in Goa by dismissing the bribery allegations levied by former minister and party leader Pandurang Madkaikar calling it as “false and baseless.”
Addressing a press conference on Thursday in Goa, Singh clarified that an inquiry has been initiated by the party regarding the allegations and necessary action would be initiated against former Cumbharjua MLA. “All allegations made by Pandurang Madkaikar are false, and there is no truth in them,” Singh said, stressing that the accusations would be thoroughly investigated.
“BJP government under Pramod Sawant is working honestly…public has certified their work…there is no truth in the allegations made by Madkaikar…one person saying something doesn’t make any impact,” he added.
During a media interaction, last week Madkaikar alleged that he had personally paid a minister to get his work done, though he refrained from naming the individual. This sensational revelation was made on camera, intensifying the political storm.
He claimed to have paid a bribe of Rs 15 to 20 lakh to the personal assistant of a minister to process a file.
