Maha tourist held for assaulting rent-a-bike operator at Arpora

A 30-year-old tourist from Yavatmal-Maharashtra has been arrested on charges of assaulting a rent-a-bike operator at Arpora on Thursday morning.

The rent-a-bike operator Gurudas Divkar of Sakwadi-Arpora filed a police complaint stating that the incident took place near La Sunila Resort at about 10.20 am

Divkar had rented out a two-wheeler to Amit Kale on Wednesday and Kale was to return the bike before 9 am on Thursday.

However, Kale is reported to have handed over the two-wheeler at 10.20 am. Divkar questioned Kale about the delay and an argument broke out among them.

Kale is alleged to have assaulted Divkar with a helmet and a knife. On noticing the incident, some locals went to the rescue of Divkar, who sustained injuries on his left hand following the attack and is undergoing treatment in hospital.

Acting on the complaint, Anjuna police later arrested Kale and investigation into this case is being conducted by PSI Saish Shetgaonkar under the guidance of Police Inspector Suraj Gawas.
