
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday said there has been appreciable development in Goa due to the “double engine government”.
“While Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working toward building a ‘Developed India’ by 2047, Goa’s Chief Minister Pramod Sawant is endeavouring to transform Goa into a developed State by 2037,” said Fadnavis.
He was speaking at a campaign rally in Ponda in support of BJP candidate Ritesh Naik for the Ponda by-poll. The event was attended by Union Minister Shripad Naik, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar, Water Resources Minister Subhash Shirodkar, PWD Minister Digambar Kamat, MLAs Govind Gaude and Michael Lobo, BJP State President Damu Naik, MGP President Deepak Dhavalikar, MP Sadanand Tanavade, former MPs Narendra Sawaikar and Vinay Tendulkar, former MLA Siddharth Kunkolienkar, BJP Mandal President Harish Naik, Municipal Chairperson Virendra Dhavalikar, Zilla Panchayat member Pritesh Naik, Curti Sarpanch Naved Tehsildar, corporators Vishwanath Dalvi and Roy Naik, Venkatesh alias Dada Naik, Anand Naik, and Zilla Panchayat member Pritesh Gaonkar.
Stating that the BJP government in Goa is working toward making the State an educational hub with modern infrastructure, Fadnavis appealed to voters in Ponda constituency to elect Ritesh Naik in the by-election and continue the legacy of his father, late Ravi Naik.
He also expressed confidence that the BJP–MGP alliance government will remain in power in Goa through 2027 and beyond.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said the double engine government is taking decisions in the interest of the people.
Announcing that the much-needed IIT project in Goa will be established at Farmagudi, Sawant said financial assistance under the ‘Griha Aadhar’ scheme for women in the State would be increased soon.
He expressed confidence that Ritesh Naik would win the by-election with a significant margin and appealed to voters to turn out in large numbers to exercise their franchise.
Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar stated that the by-poll was taking place due to the demise of former minister Ravi Naik and felt that other political parties should have cooperated to allow Ritesh Naik get elected unopposed.
Water Resources Minister Subhash Shirodkar, PWD Minister Digambar Kamat, MLAs Govind Gaude and Michael Lobo, BJP State President Damu Naik, Venkatesh alias Dada Naik, and others also spoke on the occasion.
