MARGAO

The Telaulim Village Panchayat has approached the PWD, National Highways and the Electricity Department to ensure proper lighting on the Margao western bypass passing through the village.

Telaulim Deputy Sarpanch Steven Goes told the media on Monday that non-functional street lights on the busy bypass have already led to a number of road accidents. He said the issue was raised at the last gram sabha meeting, where members expressed concern over the lack of lighting on the bypass.

“Based on the gram sabha resolution, the panchayat has written to the PWD, National Highways and the Power Department to ensure proper illumination along the village stretch,” he said.

Goes added that several accidents have taken place on the Telaulim stretch of the Margao western bypass, with locals and motorists blaming poor lighting for the mishaps.
