A woman died after lack of road access hampered an ambulance from reaching her residence in the remote area of Ovaliye village in Sattari taluka.

Following the incident, a heartbreaking video of her son has gone viral, where he appeals emotionally to authorities to provide road connectivity to the village and prevent such tragedies in the future.

Ovaliye village is located in a hilly terrain, with several houses situated at higher elevations. There is no proper tar road connecting these homes, leaving residents—primarily farmers—cut off from essential services, especially healthcare.

A woman suddenly fell unconscious, prompting the family to call the 108 ambulance. However, due to the absence of a proper road, the ambulance had to stop nearly 2 kms away.

Although a 108 ambulance reached the village, it could not access the victim’s house due to the lack of a motorable road.

Despite the challenge and given the critical condition of the patient, the 108 ambulance staff walked through hills and rough terrain carrying a stretcher for about 2 kms to reach her. They then transported her back the same distance to the main road, causing significant delay.

She was initially taken to Sankhali Community Health Centre, and preparations were underway to shift her to CMH hospital at Bambolim for further treatment. However, she passed away before she could be sent to the GMC hospital.

The distraught son, Parshuram Prabhu, claimed that while India has reached the Moon in the 21st century, a road was yet to reach his village.

Without directly blaming authorities, he appealed to the government to provide road connectivity to the village.

The village consists of around 25 houses, and although road work was reportedly initiated in 2002, villagers claim that it remains incomplete and inadequate even today.
