Stating that mahilas were the backbone of the BJP organizational apparatus in the State, Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza on Friday said part of the credit for his victory in the 2019 by-polls went to the hard work of the mahila brigade.

“The mahila morcha is the most important part of the BJP organization. Our mahila team is very active and is always in the forefront during the party campaigns. In the 2019 by-election the mahilas worked very hard and ensured my victory in Mapusa,” D’Souza said.

The Mapusa MLA was addressing a function to declare the new Mahila Morcha Committee for Mapusa in presence of the State BJP Mahila Morcha General Secretary Shilpa Naik and North Goa BJP Mahila Morcha chief Geeta Kadam.

Roshan Naik was declared as the new President of the BJP Mahila Morcha Mapusa Mandal along with 31 member new committee.

Saee Samant will be the Vice-President along with three others while Sneha Naik will be the General Secretary and Heena Kanolkar treasurer.

Speaking on the occasion, State BJP Mahila Morcha General Secretary Shilpa Naik complimented the new Mapusa Mahila Morcha President who has been working with the party for the last 22 years.

“We have a dedicated band of women members who have worked for the party without any expectation. They are the real flag-bearers of the party which has kept the party afloat in the State. Our mahilas have always been in the forefront during every campaign of the party,” Naik said.

She said the elections were more than six months away but the work of mahila morcha continued whether there were elections or not.

“We need to work with the same spirit for the common man without any expectation. The result will always be in our favour,” she said.

North Goa BJP Mahila Morcha chief Geeta Kadam also addressed the gathering.
