PANAJI
Young Konkani tiatr artiste Maicon Anthony Pereira of St. Inez, Panaji, has been selected for the prestigious Josephine Dias Puroskar 2026, instituted by the Tiatr Academy of Goa (TAG) to recognise outstanding young talent in Konkani tiatr.
Sponsored by Arvind Dias in memory of his mother, veteran tiatrist Josephine Dias, the award honours promising artistes who have made a significant contribution to the Konkani stage.
The TAG Executive Board selected Maicon in recognition of his achievements as an actor and singer despite his young age.
A student of Rosary High School, Cujira, Bambolim, Maicon began his tiatr journey at the age of 10, inspired by his late grandmother, Delfina Pereira, who introduced him to the art form. He made his stage debut in 2022 through the school tiatr Dennem.
Over the past few years, Maicon has won several accolades in inter-school and children’s tiatr competitions, securing top honours in acting and singing. His achievements include Best Actor awards for Kallokhi Vatt, recognition for performances in Mhaka Zogpak Zai and Kalliz Roddtta, and multiple prizes in solo, duet and choral singing-competitions.
Beyond school events, he has won titles such as Voice of Caranzalem and excelled at competitions including Suadik Tallo-3 and the St Inez Parish Youth Talent Show.
Congratulating Maicon, TAG President Anthony Barbosa praised his dedication and achievements, expressing confidence that he would continue to promote and preserve Goa’s rich Konkani tiatr tradition.
