The Porvorim MLA was speaking as the chief guest at the function organized by Kerala Sangamam, Panaji, at Shastrtej hall, Porvorim, to celebrate Onam festival.
"Goa is undergoing a change. The main challenges before the State government is increasing the State's revenue and providing employment to youth," said Khaunte.
"As far as employment is concerned, major trust is being given on IT sector, where there is lot employment potential. The government has formed IT policy which aims at producing ‘job givers' rather than ‘job seekers' and also develop incubation centre to provide training for the youth required for IT industry," he said. Khaunte further said every state has its own culture and traditions. "There is similarity between the culture and traditions of Goa and Kerala. Many Keralites have settled down in Goa and have adopted Goan culture and some of them speak Konkani fluently. This is a healthy sign," he added. North Goa Collector Neela Mohanan also spoke on the occasion.
Earlier, Kerala Sangaman, Panaji, president Shashi Kumar welcomed the gathering, Sona Shashi Kumar compered the programme. Cultural programme was presented.
