Make Dovondem NDZ, Vijai challenges BJP

Goa Forward chief Vijai Sardesai on Tuesday challenged the BJP leadership to change the zoning of the controversial mega housing projects proposed at Dovondem, Fatorda, to No Development Zones (NDZ) if it was genuinely concerned about the residents opposing the projects.

Reacting to the agitation by Dovondem residents against the projects while he was in the UK, Sardesai said he stood firmly with those opposing the developments.

Targeting BJP State president Damu Naik, Sardesai said that since TCP Minister Vishwajit Rane had recently proposed several zone changes across the state to NDZ and Non-Development Areas (NDA), the BJP chief should ask him to similarly change the zoning of the Dovondem projects.

“The BJP government is ruling the State. TCP Minister Vishwajit Rane has been changing zones under Section 39A to NDZ and NDA. Since there is opposition to the mega housing projects at Dovondem, BJP president Damu Naik should request Rane to include the project area under NDZ. I have no objection even if the entire Dovondem is notified as NDZ or NDA,” he said.
