Man assaulted with beer bottles on St Jacinto bridge; 4 booked

Vasco police have registered a case after a man was assaulted and seriously injured in an early morning attack on the bridge connecting St Jacinto Island in Sancoale.

As per the complaint filed by Suresh Dodamani, a resident of New Vaddem, the incident took place around 4:00 am on July 5. Dodamani alleged that the accused, Amit Kamat, a resident of Mangor Hill, along with three unidentified male persons, abused him using filthy language. The group allegedly assaulted him with fist blows and also broke beer glass bottles on his head and other parts of his body, causing serious injuries. The accused also reportedly threatened to kill him.

Following the complaint, Vasco police registered an offence under sections 118(1), 351(3), and 352 read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.

The investigation is being carried out by PSI Mayur Sawant under the supervision of PI Vaibhav Naik and the guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
