Porvorim police have booked a person from Colvale on charges of dumping garbage by the roadside at Socorro.
A police team was deployed near Green Hill Road at Socorro on Friday to take action against offenders dumping garbage in an
open space.
At night, a person riding a motorcycle (GA-03-AN-9092) was seen dumping garbage by the roadside and fleeing from the spot.
Police later verified the details and identified the person as Mithun Mondal (45) of Colvale-Bardez. Police secured his presence at the police station and a case was booked against him.
His motorcycle was also detained at the police station.
Police Inspector Tukaram Chavan said the Porvorim police station has started taking strict action against offenders who have been found dumping garbage in open spaces.
