A dispute over previous enmity allegedly turned violent at Birla, Zuarinagar, Sancoale, on the night of July 23, leaving one man with a fractured nose and three others injured.
According to a complaint lodged by Ambresh Patil of Birla, Zuarinagar, the incident took place at around 8.25 pm when three men, identified as Basu Goudar, Manjunath Goudar and Mantesh Goudar, all residents of the same locality, allegedly attacked him.
Police said Basu Goudar, who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, punched the complainant on the nose and head, causing bleeding injuries and a fractured nasal bone. The complaint further stated that the other two accused joined in the assault, and all three allegedly attacked Ambresh Patil over previous enmity while acting with a common intention.
When Anand Biradar, Sharnamma Biradar and Adiyappa Biradar rushed to help the complainant, they too were allegedly assaulted by the accused. The three sustained simple injuries after being punched in the face.
Based on the complaint, Verna Police registered an offence under Sections 115(2), 117(2) read with Section 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The investigation is being carried out by Head Constable Sandeep Naik of Verna Police Station under the supervision of Police Inspector Anand Shirodkar and the guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
