Verna police have booked a man on charges of sexually assaulting his minor stepson over an extended period at their residence in Sancoale.
According to police, the offence came to light after the boy’s mother lodged a complaint stating that since 2023, the accused — who is the child’s stepfather — had repeatedly subjected the victim to sexual abuse.
The complainant further alleged that the accused had threatened to kill the boy if he revealed the incidents to anyone.
Based on the mother’s complaint, Verna police registered a case under Section 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Sections 5(1)(m)(n) and 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and Section 8(2) of the Goa Children’s Act, 2003.
The investigation is being carried out by PSI Pramila Fernandes of Verna Police Station under the supervision of PI Anand Shirodkar and the guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
