Ponda police informed that the mishap took place as the deceased, Yogesh Sathakallkar, was proceeding towards Usgao, while the other rider, Ibrahim Chowkdar, from Avantinagar Tisk-Usgao, was proceeding from the opposite side.
Sathakallkar, who had not worn a helmet, sustained head injuries and died on the spot. Chowkdar, who fled from the site after the mishap, was later apprehended by police.
A group of locals from Vante-Sattari, who rushed to the site on receiving news of the mishap, said Sathakallkar was working in Hospicio hospital in Margao since the last four years.
“He used to stay in Margao itself. But since the last 15 days, he used to travel to Sattari via Usgao,” a fellow villager told The Goan.
The body was sent to Goa Medical College hospital
for a post mortem and PSI Nitin Halalkar is investigating the case.
