The body of a 54-year-old man from Canacona was found in a temple pond at Shristhal on Monday evening.  

According to police sources, Pradip Desai had gone missing since Sunday after he had not returned to his house on Sunday night. A missing complaint was filed and police as well as relatives were on the lookout for Desai.  

Some relatives and locals launched a search for the missing man early on Monday morning and sources said someone noticed slippers outside the temple premises and some other personal belongings, including a pant, near the lake at the temple side at Shristhal.  

One devotee who had been to the temple then moved a bamboo inside the lake, when the body of a man began to float in the lake.  

Soon, others present recognized the body of Pradip Dessai and alerted the police. The body was retrieved and was sent to Hospicio Hospital for a post-mortem.  

According to sources, the deceased, who was employed in a town pharmacy, was not keeping in good health of late. He is survived by his wife and two children.  

Canacona police registered a case of unnatural death and is investigating the case.
