Man found in pool of blood at rented room in Benaulim

MARGAO
A 35-year-old tile fitter, a native of Londa-Karnataka has been found murdered in cold blood in Benaulim village on Tuesday afternoon.

The Colva police was quick to register a case of murder after the body of the deceased was found lying in a pool of blood inside the rented premises.

Police believe that deceased Vishwanath Shankar Sidnal must have been done to death a day ago as evident by the fact that the body was in a semi-decomposed state.

The deceased was putting up in the rented room along with wife and daughter since the last three years. The murder came to light after the mother of the deceased, who is staying at Mungul, came in search of him at the rented place after her son did not respond to the telephone calls since Monday morning. Her worst fears came true when she arrived at the rented room, only to be informed by the owner that the room is found closed. It was only after the room was opened that the deceased was found lying in a pool of blood.

District Police Chief, SP Sunita Sawant, who along with Sub-Divisional Police Officer, DySP Salim Sheikh rushed to the scene of crime to take stock of the situation, later told the media that the Colva police have registered a case of murder in connection with the death of the tile fitter based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s father.

“Preliminary inquiry has revealed that the deceased was staying with wife in the rented room. He must have been lying dead inside the room for over 24 hours. The door had remained closed since Sunday,” SP Sawant informed.

Incidentally, when the police were investigating the case, the wife of the deceased along with her relatives returned to the room. The police took the wife to the police for questioning. Further investigation is in progress.
