The Mandrem panchayat on Monday conducted a site inspection of constructions in the village, following complaints from locals.
A local Sandesh Sawant and some social organisations had submitted written complaints to the panchayat, deputy district collector and district collector regarding constructions which, they had alleged, were in violation of the CRZ rules.
Acting on the complaint, Mandrem Sarpanch Prashant alias Bala Naik conducted an inspection of these constructions in the presence of the complainant Sandesh Sawant.
The report of this inspection will be submitted to the Pernem Block Development Officer and to senior officials.
One such construction is in the vicinity of Naroba Devasthan and by the side of the road between Mandram to Arambol.
Locals claimed that the construction would pose a hindrance if and when road widening is undertaken in the area.
Mandrem Sarpanch Prashant alias Bala Naik made it clear that no illegal constructions would be allowed in Mandrem village.
