A 38-year-old man from Dodamarg but residing at Cunchelim-Mapusa has been arrested on charges of molesting two specially-abled girls at Karaswada-Mapusa on Tuesday.
According to police reports, the incident took place at about 2 pm near the Bandekar petrol pump in Karaswada, when the two minor girls from a special school were walking down the street from the school bus. The accused, Apa Asankar, is alleged to have grabbed their hands and tried to molest them. When the girls screamed, the suspect tried to run away. A mob, however, caught hold of the accused. On receiving information about the incident, a Mapusa police team rushed to the spot and took the accused into custody. Acting on a complaint by one girl’s father, Mapusa police arrested Asankar in the connection and further investigation is in progress under the supervision of Mapusa Police Inspector Naveen Desai.
