One Louis Eugenio Gracy D'Silva (64), a resident of Cana-Benaulim, was killed on the spot when he was knocked down by an unidentified vehicle on Colva-Benaulim road on Tuesday afternoon.

According to police, they received a call at around 3.45 pm, that a person had lost his life in a hit-and-run accident on Colva-Benaulim road. Police said when they reached the spot, they summoned 108 ambulance service and the victim was declared dead. Thereafter, a hearse van moved the deceased for post-mortem, informed police.

Police said they suspect a silver coloured Innova to be involved in the hit-and-run incident.

Speaking to the media, ZP member Maria Luz Rebello claimed that the body of the deceased was lying at the spot for a long time before it could be cleared. Local panch, Menino called on the police to identify the culprit behind this incident even as he urged the PWD authorities to do the needful to repair the road.
