Incidents of fraud and cheating are on the rise and various methods are being used to dupe people.
In one such fraud, a person was duped of Rs 50,000 after paying the amount online to buy an e-bike.
According to reports, the complainant had decided to purchase an e-bike and though the company has not opened any showroom as yet, the particular e-bike has to be purchased by booking it online and the transaction of the money also is online.
The complainant contacted the said company’s website, and a person called him over phone. He gave another website for the online booking process. When the complainant visited that website, he was informed that if Rs 50,000 is paid in advance, he would get it faster and the next instalment would be charged with a 5% interest.
Accordingly, the victim sent the money to the fraudster’s account.
After that, the suspect contacted the victim and asked him to pay the registration fee.
The victim sensed something amiss in this process and realised that he is being duped. He went to the police and filed a complaint.
The police has now appealed the public to stay away from such online frauds.
