The Mapusa Fire Station was flooded with calls of tree falls throughout the day.
A road in Guirim was completely submerged with rain water making it difficult for locals to use the road.
The fire officials at Mapusa Fire Station were kept busy with more than 18 calls of tree falling at various parts of Bardez.
Complaints of tree fall were reported from various places like Mapusa, Pompurpa, Aldona, Peddem, Siolim, Sirsaim, Tivim, Colvale, Camurlim, Ucassaim, Cansa, Nachinola, Anjuna, Bastora etc.
The incessant rains flooded the Mapusa market which has now become a perennial problem during heavy rains.
BICHOLIM: Incessant and torrential rains disrupted normal life in Bicholim on Wednesday.
Bicholim fire personnel were kept busy clearing the debris of trees that had uprooted at several places in Bicholim, while pedestrians faced acute hardships while walking on the road as roads were inundated with rainwater. The main road at Bordem-Bicholim was flooded due to heavy rains.
At Velguem, a tamarind tree came crashing down on the house belonging to Pratap Gaonkar, partially damaging his house, while the road leading to Vithlapur-Sakhali was blocked for nearly hours after a mango tree fell on the main road.
A tree came crashing down on the road at Vante-Sattari, while a car (GA-01-G-1064) was damaged badly after a cashew tree fell on it at Sarvan-Bicholim.
A huge mango tree uprooted on the main road at Lamgao-Bicholim, damaging electricity poles and wires.
VALPOI: Heavy rains disrupted normal life in Valpoi on Wednesday, as incidents of uprooting of trees were reported in the taluka.
According to Valpoi fire officials, an old huge tree came crashing down on the Satteri temple at Thane- Sattari, damaging property worth over Rs 1 lakh.
In Vante, a tree fell on the house belonging to Bhagwan Gawde. In the evening, a huge tree near the house of Imtiyaz Khan came crashing down on the Valpoi-Thane road, disrupting traffic for a few hours.
Incidents of trees uprooting were also reported at Dabos, Khadki and Valpoi town, disrupting power supply and also the traffic on the roads. However, no casualty was reported.
