After nearly four months, Chief Officer Amitesh Shirvoikar joined duty in the Mapusa Municipal Council on Friday.
Shirvoikar, who was reportedly on sick leave, came to the office and took charge as a fulltime chief officer on September 22. He who was supposed to join office on September 11 delayed it due to the impending Ganesh festival.
In his absence, Special Land Acquisition Officer (PWD) Chandrakant Shetkar held the post of Mapusa chief officer as additional charge.
Absence of a full-time chief officer had impacted hearings in quasi-judicial matters and also affected the functioning of the civic body.
