In one of the biggest state-sponsored cultural events, the Tourism Department deployed 300 drones, a 150-member cast and a revolving stage production in Mapusa to mark Shiv Jayanti. The presentation, titled “Shivshahichi Garjana”, was staged at Shree Bodgeshwar Ground and combined theatre, technology and a strong public presence.
Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte said the production aimed to present heritage in a modern and engaging format, especially for the youth. He said the show paid tribute to the journey of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, highlighting his connection with Gomantak and its people. The department, he added, remains committed to presenting cultural heritage through contemporary formats that inspire citizens and young audiences. The performance dramatised key episodes from Shivaji Maharaj’s life, with special focus on his visit to Goa and his strategic interest in coastal regions.
The highlight of the evening was a synchronised drone show featuring 300 drones that created 12 illuminated motifs in the night sky, including the Bhagwa Flag, Raigad Fort and the coronation of the Maratha ruler.
Managing Director of Goa Tourism Development Corporation, Kuldeep Arolkar, said the production was designed to make history an experience rather than just a narration by combining advanced technology with traditional performance. He added that the focus remains on delivering high-quality cultural programmes that honour legacy while raising the standards of public events in Goa.
