A man has been arrested for demanding sexual favours by blackmailing his friend, Anjuna Police informed.
The accused has been identified as Kunal Mayekar (21) who is a resident of Mapusa.
The victim approached the Anjuna Police with a complaint that she had been receiving objectionable photographs from different Instagram IDs.
“The man was demanding sexual favours and threatening the woman of dire consequences if she did not give in to his demands,” Mapsua SDPO Jivba Dalvi informed.
A police team under Mapusa SDPO then raided the house of the suspect and seized the laptop and mobile through which the alleged messages were sent to the woman.
During interrogation, it was confirmed that the accused was an old friend of the complainant.
Anjuna police arrested the accused under Sections 354- A, C, D, 509, 506(ii) of the IPC.
The accused has been remanded to four days police custody.
Further investigation is in progress.
