In his first public appearance as the MLA of Mapusa, Joshua D’Souza on Friday visited the Mapusa market to hear grievances of a section of the business community in the market.
The shopkeepers at the Cosmos Centre in the market had recently informed the Mapusa civic body about nuisance created by the wet waste dumped by the beef and fish vendors in the vicinity.
On Friday afternoon, Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza along with Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC) Chairperson Ryan Braganza and Councillor Rajsingh Rane visited the market and met the aggrieved
shopkeepers.
Braganza informed that the business community from the locality had issues with hygiene and waste dumped in the area.
“We have invited representatives of shopkeepers and fish and beef vendors to the municipality on Monday. We will then discuss the issue in detail and arrive at an amicable solution,” Braganza said.
According to a representative of the business community, the fish and beef vendors dump their wet waste in the open spot near their shops and the resulting stink creates nuisance to them and people who come to shop.
He said many times, the MMC staff fail to pick up the waste on time, which adds to the nuisance.
This visit to the market is Joshua D’Souza’s first public appearance as the MLA of Mapusa.
