Mapusa Municipality Chairperson Nutan Bicholkar conducted a pre-monsoon inspection at Mapusa market, stating that despite delays caused by the election code and ongoing cabling projects, desilting activities are currently underway with permissions from the Election Commission of India (ECI).
“The pre-monsoon period is crucial. Desilting is carried out annually, and this year, we encountered two significant challenges: underground cabling and the election code of conduct. These factors have increased our workload within a limited timeframe, but our team is addressing them. We have obtained NOCs from the ECI to continue our operations, and today marks the 9th day of ongoing desilting work,” stated Bicholkar.
Engineers, contractors, officials from the electricity department, with the market chairman and the municipality vice-chairperson, participated in the survey, discussing and highlighting issues, with each person assigned specific tasks.
Bicholkar stressed the importance of tackling encroachment in the area and highlighted that they are actively involved in ongoing discussions to determine the appropriate actions needed.
