Sharmad said he expects to pocket 400-440 votes cast in the booth, saying the turnout of voters has only strengthened the demand for a political change in the city. “The fact that voters from the ward have enthusiastically come out to vote, shows that they as supporting the change demanded by Madgavkars," he said.
On the other hand, Digambar Kamat reminded the media that how his candidate had won in the by-poll for ward No. 21 of the Margao Municipal Council only last year, exuding confidence that the same story will be repeated in the re-poll. “During the bye-poll for ward No. 21, the media had termed the battle as a semi-final clash between me and the BJP. You very well know the result of the by-poll. I am confident the same story will be repeated this time round too," Kamat added.
Both Kamat and Sharmad were not ready to concede any advantage to each other. “My workers toiled hard to get the people out for voting. I am confident that I will poll more than 75 per cent of the votes polled in the re-poll," Kamat said.
Sharmad, on the other hand, sounded optimistic saying that party supporters turned up in large numbers to cast their vote in the re-poll.
