MARGAO
Leaving behind the bitter controversy over the float parade route, the two-day Carnival program chalked out by the Margao Carnival Committee got underway on Saturday evening with a host of programmes at the Margao Municipal Council square.
Chairman of the Margao Carnival Committee, Arthur D’Silva, who along with other opposition councillors had knocked the doors of the High Court on Saturday for change of the float parade route, told the media the panel accepts the Ravindra Bhavan route for Sunday’s event.
“Maybe Lord Damubab, the presiding deity, wants the Carnival parade to be held in Fatorda so that it passes by his temple near the Nehru stadium,” Arthur said while exuding confidence that the almighty will bless the Carnival festivities scheduled on Sunday.
The Margao Carnival Committee Chairman along with a group of councillors were seen at the MMC square as the two-day carnival festivities got off on Saturday evening. The entire MMC square wore a festive look as the square was decked up for the Carnival festivities.
