MARGAO
In an abduction that occurred in broad daylight at Comba, Margao, three persons allegedly abducted a man and forced him into a waiting car before speeding away on Friday morning.
Acting swiftly, Margao Police rescued the victim, Sanjeel Kudchadkar, after a manhunt and intercepted the car at Karwar with the help of their Karnataka counterparts. Police also managed to apprehend two persons in connection with the incident.
Margao Police said they received a complaint from 20-year-old Diya, who alleged that her father, Sanjeel Kudchadkar, was abducted by three persons in a Maruti Celerio car over a property dispute between her father and mother.
Based on the complaint, Margao Town Police registered a case under Section 140(3) read with Section 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
Margao police station in-charge PI Arun Desai said that during the course of the investigation, police apprehended two previously unidentified accused persons — Sassir Bin Masood, a resident of Maina-Curtorim, originally from Hyderabad, and Shah Ali Saudagar, a resident of Davorlim, originally from Solapur, Maharashtra — and rescued the abducted person, Sanjeel Kudchadkar.
Asked about the motive behind the incident, PI Desai said police were investigating the exact reason behind Kudchadkar’s abduction. “The CCTV footage shows that two persons were forcibly taking the victim towards the car. We are investigating the crime,” he added.
Meanwhile, South Goa Superintendent of Police Tikam Singh told the media that the incident appeared to be linked to a family dispute between husband and wife.
“The CCTV footage shows two persons forcefully taking the victim into a car before driving away. We have received a complaint from the victim’s daughter. An FIR has been registered. Police have arrested two persons so far. The motive is being ascertained,” he added.
