Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Margao to inaugurate the Viksit Bharat rally on February 6, the Margao KTC bus stand will be temporarily shifted from the present location to the open ground opposite the SAG artificial turf, Fatorda, from February 1.
South Goa district Collector, Asvin Chandru, IAS has issued a notification of the existing bus stand operations in view of the VVIP visit on February 6.
In the notification, the district Collector stated that the Managing Director, Kadamba Transport Corporation Ltd, vide letter dated 25/01/2024 has requested to issue temporary notification for shifting of existing Bus Stand Operations in view of VVIP visit on 06/02/2024 and requested the Collector’s office for temporary shifting of existing Margao Bus Stand operation to Open Ground Opposite to SAG Artificial Turf, Fatorda Margao Goa w.e.f. 01/02/2024 to 08/02/2024.
“I, Asvin Chandru A., IAS, Collector & District Magistrate, South Goa, Margao, having considered the proposal do hereby notify under Section 115 and 116 of the Motor Vehicle Act., 1988 (Central Act of 1988) read with Govt. Notification No.5/28/88 TPT (PART) dated 26th September, 1989, the temporary closure of KTC Bus Stand and shifting of Margao Bus Stand operations to Open Ground (Behind Samrat Garden) Opposite SAG Artificial Turf, Fatorda Margao Goa from 01/02/2024 to 08/02/2024”, the notification stated.
The district Collector has further stated in the notification that no vehicle will be allowed to be parked in and around the KTC Bus Stand Margao South Goa during the period, beginning from February 1.
With the sprawling KTC bus stand, Margao zeroed in on by the government to host the PM’s Viksit Bharat rally, the authorities had finally settled for the open ground next to the SAG ground, behind the Samrat garden for the makeshift bus stand for eight days, beginning from February 1.
