Defending the decision to rope in outstation consultants to prepare the Master Plan 2041 for Margao, Director of Municipal Administration Gurudas Pilarnekar said that Urban Development Minister Vishwajit Rane will soon hold a meeting with the MLAs representing the Margao Municipal area to allay apprehensions over the Master plan.
When his attention was drawn by scribes to the remarks made by former DMA Elvis Gomes that the Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA) is just a society while a Municipality is a statutory body, Pilarnekar, who heads GSUDA as its Member Secretary, said there’ s no bar on any society or Corporation to rope in consultants to prepare a Master plan. “What is the problem if the GSUDA has roped in a consultant to prepare the Master plan for Margao”, Pilarnekar sought to know.
He, however, hastened to add that the Plan prepared by the Consultant is not a final plan, saying what has been presented at the Margao Municipal Council is just the first stage.
“There is time to come for further presentation and discussions. Urban Development Minister Vishwajit Rane will soon sit with the MLAs representing the Margao Municipal area. They will sit and decide,” he said.
When quizzed by the media whether there’s any plan to take the Margao City Fathers and citizens on board before finalizing the Plan, Pilarnekar, who retires on Wednesday, said there’s still time for the consultative process.
