MARGAO
If officials are to be believed, since the swab collection was shifted to the Ravindra Bhavan on Thursday afternoon, about 350 persons are believed to have made a queue for collection of their swabs at the cultural institution.
“If not for the shifting, all these people would have headed straight to the district hospital where Covid positive patients and others seeking admissions used to come every day,” the official said.
“In the past, the hospital has played host to over 500 persons coming for swab collection and testing. This has resulted in space constraints in the hospital and a rush of vehicles outside. All these people used to come to the hospital with their vehicles adding to the parking space constraints,” the official said.
Comparatively, the Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, has spacious premises with huge parking space. “Compared to the district hospital, Ravindra Bhavan has adequate sanitation facilities as well,” an official added.
With Covid cases on the rise and people opting to go for swab testing, officials forecast a rush in the coming days.
