Plans on to shift 20 patients from South to MPT hosp

MARGAO
The South Goa district hospital was planning to shift around 20 patients to the MPT hospital which has been notified as a step-down facility after the hospital was left with no beds on Friday evening.

The ESI hospital, Margao, also ran out of beds on Friday evening even though the hospital had discharged around 27 patients since last night.

District hospital officials informed that around 532 patients were undergoing treatment at the hospital till 6 pm. Given that there were no more beds in the hospital for patients arriving late at night, the hospital administration was planning to shift around 20 patients to the MPT hospital later tonight.

“The condition of these 20 patients has improved considerably and hence it has been decided to shift them to the MPT hospital which has been designated as a step-down facility,” the official said.

At the ESI hospital, patients found it hard to get admissions with officials claiming the hospital was filled to capacity.

However, officials of both the district hospital and ESI hospital claimed they have adequate provision of oxygen, with supplies to the ESI hospital being maintained by the Cuncolim oxygen plant and that of the district hospital by the liquid oxygen imported from Kolhapur and trolleys coming from Verna.
