Draw of lots held to decide the order of performances in the Romtamel category for the Shigmo float parade scheduled in Margao on Saturday.

The Margao Shimgotsav Committee on Monday decided that the Romtamel floats and the Shigmo float parade will begin on time this Saturday.
Addressing the media, Margao Municipal Chairperson Damu Shirodkar appealed to Romtamel troupes to cooperate and ensure the floats begin as scheduled. Referring to last year’s parade that continued into the early hours of the next day, he said the Romtamel parade will begin at 4 pm this year.
Lots were drawn in Shirodkar’s chamber on Monday to decide the order of performances. A total of 16 groups will perform. Although the number was initially set at 15, an additional Romtamel troupe of young children from Margao has been included and will perform first.
Last year, organisers faced criticism after the Shimgotsav procession in Margao continued until dawn. Learning from that experience, the committee has decided to tighten conditions and introduce stricter measures to ensure discipline.
The list of performers and timings will be shared with group leaders. Volunteers have also been appointed to guide each Romtamel troupe to the main platform on time.
Committee members and journalists attended the draw of lots. Senior members Arun Raikar, Ganesh Velip and others were present.
